Table Lamps
Table lamps are one of the primary varieties of lamps (other include ceiling lamps and floor lamps). The modern table lamp is used for reading and providing a space on which people can do whatever kind of manual work that they need to do such as writing, studying or playing a game. The history of the table lamp goes back almost as far as the idea of lamps themselves, with people in past eras often setting lanterns on tables as a kind of simple table lamp. Throughout the centuries, more decorative table lamps were developed. Now that we have lamps that can operate on electrical power and which are not limited by the hazard of containing fire or by the need for a constant supply of physical fuel, the contemporary table lamp has even more room to grow in style and variance.
Contemporary table lamps run the entire range of prices, from discount tables lamps that you can get from catalogs and sales at stores on the one hand to Tiffany table lamps (the Tiffany table lamp being one of the most expensive and high class lamps that are on the market) and the Quoizel table lamp, along with other kinds of expensive crystal table lamps and antique table lamps that can be used to provide a special kind of appearance and ambiance to a room. An outdoor table lamp is rarely so fancy; most outdoor table lamps are straightforward electric lamps that use halogen bulbs or fluorescent light so that they will use as little energy as possible while providing a strong outdoor light.
There are also examples of integrated furniture which have lamps attached, although these tend to be less popular because people like their furniture to be easier to rearrange when redesigning a room or moving. A lamp switch table / dimmer inline lamp switch table may have the controls for an attached lamp embedded in a control panel in the wood of the table itself. This is one of the most extreme examples of table lamps that you can find; most table lamps are much more simple and besides the traditional table lamps that require cords to run from their bases to the nearest power outlet there are even cordless table lamps now that receive their power via a wireless connection. This makes for the most convenient supply of electrical energy to the table lamps that you place on your table, desk or elsewhere.
