Pool Table Lighting
Pool table lights have two functions; one of these functions is, of course, to effectively light the table so it is possible to see what you are doing. Usually the place where one puts a pool table is in an area where the lights tend to be dim. In pool houses this is done because of the desire to create a certain kind of atmosphere where people can relax with drinks; the overall lighting in the room then is dim and the lights that are set above individual pool tables are designed so that they focus attention on the tables themselves and people do not become distracted with what is going on through the aisles or at other tables. The other function of pool table lighting is to help to produce this same kind of atmosphere.
Most people put their personal pool tables in a basement or some kind of game room that does not have windows that admit outside light. As a result, you have a great deal of control over the intensity and the methods of your pool table lighting. Pool table lamps are generally designed to project straight downwards, although some light is also allowed to escape over the sides of the pool table. This creates a pool table light footprint from the pool table light fixture that makes it easy to see the table itself but does not do much to light the rest of the room. You will want to consider the lighting of the rest of the room as a separate thing from the pool table lamp; pool table light height is generally a foot or so below the ceiling - how high you will want your pool table light to be and whether you want your pool table lights to be built into the ceiling or hanging down a bit with some kind of shade around them depends on the height of the ceiling in your game room and what kind of appearance you are striving for.
To get a real pool house feel you may want to consider beer pool table lamps such as a Budweiser pool table light, a Miller pool table light or a sports themed light such as a Green Bay pool table light. There are other options you can try, of course, such as wildlife wrought iron pool table lamps or Tiffany pool table lamps, depending on the kind of game room you are running. Lamps and pool table supplies can be purchased at game room supply companies and from the catalogs of some larger furniture manufacturers that have a wide variety of products. If you carefully consider your goals for buying pool table lights you can get the pool table lights that are best for your personal situation.
