Full Spectrum Lighting

Full spectrum lighting is the kind of lighting that you are most likely to want if you are putting together lighting for an art gallery or some other kind of installation where you want to make sure that you are able to clearly see everything that is being presented. Full spectrum light bulbs are significantly different from ordinary light bulbs. Spectrum lighting refers to the spectrum of different colors of light - most ordinary bulbs that are used indoors have a limited spectrum because they come from either an incandescent light source (one that is based on burning a filament, and which releases only a very specific spectrum of light wave frequencies that is specific to burning that particular filament material) or a fluorescent light source (which is based on a high voltage overcoming the resistance to the flow of current in a gas, and which also releases only a limited range of frequencies determined by the characteristics of the gas). With full spectrum lights you get a full and balanced range of colors over the full visible light spectrum; a full spectrum light can thusly be put to good use in any kind of art museum.

A full spectrum light bulb and balanced spectrum lamps are also used in a variety of therapeutic and experimental situations: light spectrum differences on plants have been observed as different kinds of light can be used to varying extents by the plants to turn light energy into food energy. Light therapy with full spectrum lighting, such as full spectrum light boxes and full spectrum lamps are also used to help humans feel better. During the time of year when the days are the shortest and people are feeling the heaviest influence of seasonal affective disorder, it may help improve one's mood to use one of the many full spectrum floor lamps now on the market and expose oneself to powerful full spectrum lighting for a period each day. By bathing yourself in the visible light spectrum wavelengths your brain is tricked into thinking that it is a different time of the year and as a result you may feel better and less depressed.

Whether you are thinking about full spectrum lighting to get the best possible appearance for artwork at a show, to improve the growth of your garden or whether you are more interested in the increasing amount of evidence that demonstrates how full spectrum lighting can help to cure depression during the long winter, full spectrum lighting provides a useful solution for your lighting needs.
